POSITION TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - ELEMENTARY
1.0 FTE
RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
DESCRIPTION -
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility to support students with cognitive and adaptive delays (to include students with Autism Spectrum Disorders) in any of the following areas as identified on student Individualized Education Plans:1.Reading
2.Written language
3.Mathematics
4.Social/behavioral skills
5.Adaptive skills
Participate as a member of the Building Assessment Team in the assessment and evaluation of students.
Based upon student assessment, develop and implement Individualized Education Plans.
Draft monitor and support Positive Behavior Intervention Planning.
Provide specially designed instruction including modification of general education curriculum, data collection, monitor and report student progress.
Participate in State and Federal testing requirements.
Consult and communicate with other professionals and students' families regarding the needs of students.
Work effectively and cooperatively with parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community.
Supervise, schedule and train paraprofessionals.
Understand and use a variety of assistive technologies and programs.
Participate in personal ongoing professional development.
Maintain student records and confidentiality.
Meet district, state, and federal timelines and legal requirements.
Oversee general management of student's health and physical needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with appropriate Special Education Endorsement and meet qualifications for Highly Qualified in Elementary Curriculum.
Understanding of current State and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
Preferred training and/or experience in instructional and management strategies to include:1.Various instructional practices, materials, and/or instructional adaptations.
2.Use of educational technology.
3.Diversity training.
4.Knowledge of classroom and individual student behavior management techniques.
5.Preferred experience and training in CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.
6.Preferred experience in educating students with a variety of disability categories/diagnoses.
7.Preferred experience using the IEP-Online system.
8.Preferred training and/or experience in instructional and/or management strategies in positive behavioral supports, TEACCH, ABA, visual systems/learning, assistive technology, curriculum adaptations, social skills instruction, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS).

Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse.
Physical capability to respond to student in order to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
Demonstrated competency with data tracking systems, IEP Development using computer supports such as Excel, Word, etc.
Demonstrated competency with the use of verbal and written communication.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is on a conditional basis pending completion of a state and national background check.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
