In addition, HP continues to expand its presence and product offerings in the laserjet/toner and 3D printing applications, increasing the complexity of its compliance obligations worldwide.
Accompanying HP's technological growth are supply chain changes, along with added capabilities and channels that are needed to support the conversion from analog to digital printing.
Additionally, global chemical compliance requirements continue to evolve demanding a more comprehensive and proactive approach to effectively manage ink/toner/3D agent component portfolios in support of unrestricted assurance of HP's printing supplies.
HP's Regulatory Management and Chemical Compliance Team is committed to protecting HP's current product portfolio and global customer base as well as its new product introductions by ensuring compliance with all applicable worldwide and country-specific chemical regulations, while avoiding interruption to supply.
Especially critical to this objective is authoring and publishing compliant Safety Data Sheets for all HP supplies, made available in 125 local languages.
Based in Vancouver WA the Hazard Communications Specialist fulfills a critical role in ensuring HP products provide essential product safety and handling information in HP's SDS's and its product packaging and labeling.
The Regulatory Management and Chemical Compliance group, in support of HP's Print Business, is hiring a Hazard Communications Specialist to support HP's WW supplies programs.
This person will be based in Vancouver, WA (US).
The person hired for this position will be part of a team of compliance professionals that partner with product design teams, raw material suppliers, global marketing teams, and others, to improve and assure product safety and chemical compliance through its Hazard Communications.
Core
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be engaged in the following activities:
Routine authoring of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) documents and inputs Gather information from material testing, existing databases and SharePoint sites, and toxicologists to determine appropriate hazard communication requirements Regularly access and update the SDS authoring database Ongoing discussions and consultations with team members both on-site as well as off-site (and out of country) to align on implementation strategies MSDS Publication/finalization management Ensure SDS documents are posted to the HP website in a timely fashion Quality control of documents to ensure consistency, content and compliance Manage changes driven by substance classifications for ink, toner and 3D agents Monitor substance classification changes as well as other regulatory activities that impact SDS's and product packaging and labeling.
Capture and implement next steps as needed Participate in (and frequently lead) implementation of large, complex and time-sensitive projects involving SDS's and/or packaging and labeling revisions Organize and lead the compliance actions Report on progress; guide the team and drive compliance needs to closure In addition, the candidate will frequently be required to work across the broader HP team and with various legal authorities in the event of 3rd party compliance audits This frequently requires problem-solving skills, attention to detail, development of strategies and options, as well as experience in managing external relationships, and communicating effectively across a broad set of stakeholders Ideal attributes of the candidate:
Chemistry education or experience; ideally possesses a BS in Chemistry or Toxicology (as a major or minor) Experience with M/S Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Power BI Experience with SharePoint, OneDrive and other personal efficiency and productivity tools Organized, detail-oriented, and able to independently problem-solve Ideally possesses general knowledge on GHS standards, CLP (Classification Packaging and Labeling) and Chemical management policies The candidate must:
Be fluent in English, both written and verbal Product timely, accurate and high-quality work output The ability to learn, grow and adapt in a rapidly changing and evolving business and regulatory climate Have the ability and desire to work in a very dynamic work environment, with frequent communications across functions and regions, with an understanding of cultural diversity Have the ability to organize and plan their daily work, with minimal supervision and direction Have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely; be able to organize and present information in a clear and concise fashion, as needed or requested by key stakeholders Be available for work on a consistent basis, 40 hours per week.
