This position will reside within the Help Desk and IT Asset Management group (JRH), which is within the IT Client Services group (JR), a part of BPA's Information Technology organization (J) and will be responsible for the daily software asset management work as needed to support end user computing technology and other application delivery methodologies. This position is located in Vancouver, Washington.
The role of Software Asset Management Specialist is to understand what is owned in terms of license entitlement (dealing with complex software rights of use), what software has been deployed and how it is used and maps to VLAs (Volume License Agreements). This endeavor encompasses software recognition (ensuring all software present on the administrative network is recognized), and software metering (understanding frequency in usage for optimum compliancy). The wide and varied scope of Software Asset Management (SAM) incorporates the following components:
Software discovery data from a variety of sources
Software license information via purchasing records and other sources
Software entitlements and delivery specifications
Understanding of software license metrics for compliancy reporting
This position is open to Perm Resident and Green Card Holders candidates.
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Track license counts and software deployed
Interpret and advise management and technical teams on license entitlements
Provide software usage analysis outlining potential improved efficiencies and cost savings
Ensure software recognition capabilities are maximized.
Respond to vendor audits
Identify compliance issues
Identify non-authorized software
Establish and maintain procedures pertaining to software compliance
Maintain master list of purchased licenses and relevant software contracts
Initiate internal audits to ensure compliance, handle end users licensing issues and coordinate software rationalization (retiring software if needed)
Perform reporting of software installations (gather and consolidate data, create software installation reports)
Recover unutilized software licenses (gather data, create software reconciliation reports, perform analysis)
Analyze and advise management on appropriate metrics to be used with software asset planning
Develop working relationships with IT Procurement, supporting functions and business units to support software asset management throughout its lifecycle
Provide expertise on all SAM and license management life cycle processes, including analyzing and redesigning SAM process as necessary, including software requests, license pooling/checks, deployment, retirement

Experience:

years of experience, Computer Technology or related technical field required
Undergraduate College Degree is preferred, or in lieu of degree, an equivalent of 4 additional years experience (14
years total) in Computer Technology or related field is required
4 years of directly-related experience in Software Asset Management is required. Experience should show a good understanding of software licensing, software asset management policies and procedures, and procurement lifecycles
Experience with software discovery data and software usage data is required
Experience in compiling and analyzing large amounts of data from several sources is required
Experience in creating scheduled and ad hoc reports is required
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) experience is preferred
Industry Certification such as: Certified Software Asset Management (CSAM) is preferred
General Requirements:
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); MS Office 2010 proficiency required

Strong written communication and technical practice documentation skills
Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language

Additional Requirements:
Working shifts that range from 5:15 am to 6:15 pm
This position may be eligible for situational offsite work, subject to the completion of a Supplemental Labor Offsite Work Memorandum of Understanding
Travel to meet with supported employees, work on local projects or attend team or technical meetings is required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
