The Network administrator supports BPA's networking connectivity in an Internet/intranet environment. They ensure a high performing infrastructure on various network components such as cable plants, patch panels, routers, and switches by installing, configuring and troubleshooting using provided tools. This senior network administrator position will be located in Vancouver, WA at the Ross Complex.
This position is not open to Foreign National candidates.
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Serve as senior network administrator including responsibility for; Installing, Configuring, Upgrading and troubleshoot LAN and WAN components such as routers, hubs, switches, and monitors
Identify and independently solve complex multi-layered PC and network connectivity problems.
Act as primary point of contact for other Network Administrators in the office and respond to Networking questions from the team, enhancing productivity and facilitating knowledge transfer.
Configure and maintain network patch panels and perform cable management.
Utilize network expertise to provide prompt solution for PC and network connectivity problems
Test cables, monitor network health (frame errors, collisions) identify setting problems with speed, duplex, protocol mismatches
Use the graphical or command line management interface to modify configurations such as IP routes and VLANs. In addition track device performance, errors and traffic
Act as primary point of contact on the maintenance of network maps and data spreadsheets, using Visio and Excel
Communicate with clients and team concerning solutions pertaining to network performance and/or, maintenance, and facilitating problem resolution
Create and troubleshoot network maps, and monitor network problems in; Connectivity failures with the HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SSL, ICMP, VOIP and other protocols
Identify the need to upgrade or enhance network component capabilities in response to network problems and deficiencies; e.g., degradation of service
Position Requirements:
Education/Experience
Undergraduate degree in Network Administration/Computer/Information Technology or related field is preferred.

years experience in IP networks supporting administrative task such as moves, adds, changes, on Network hardware/software and cable infrastructures in a network with >2500 endpoints is required.
In lieu of degree, 4 additional years (14 years total) years of related Network Administration experience is required.
Knowledge of Cisco products and IOS is required.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent is required.
Knowledge of Unix operating systems with .5
years experience is desirable.
Knowledge and experience supporting additional network protocols BGP, OSPF etc. is desirable.
NIST and FIPS experience in applying security controls is desirable.
General Requirements:
Basic Skill in:
Building Cat 5 / 6 cables and Cable Plant concepts and theories
Network components, operation and maintenance concepts and methods
Network architecture principles, security principles, and concepts
Network management tools such as Sniffers, inline tools, and traceroute
LAN and WAN development principles and methods, including sub-nets, gateways, and firewalls
Remote access technology principles and concepts
Configuration of Cisco routers and switches
Wireless concepts and fundamentals
Configuration or change management concepts.
Additional Requirements:
Travel is expected (rough estimate of 40%) to trainings and meetings.
Physically able to lift 40 lbs. and do cable pulling in restricted situations.
Ability to climb a ladder to diagnose, install and repair in ceiling end points (see Ladder Usage requirements on following page).
Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions. Location for on-call and backup support may be at BPA facilities or off-site. Required to carry a BPA supplied cell phone/pager and work non-core hours when requested.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
