POSITION TITLE: SECONDARY MATHEMATICS TEACHER

HENRIETTA LACKS HEALTH AND BIOSCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL
DESCRIPTION - RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work effectively and cooperatively with community, parents, teachers, administrators and support staff.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe environment for learning.
Work collaboratively and collegially with a team developing integrated curriculum.
Use instructional technology in the delivery of curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement and meets the highly qualified standards to teach mathematics.
Experience teaching the full range of secondary mathematics options.
Understanding of the math EALRs, Washington State K-12 Mathematics Standards.
Commitment to helping students succeed on the WASL.
Training, experience, or willingness to participate in or take course work to increase knowledge and use of the following instructional management strategies to include:
1. Classroom management skills
2. Familiarity with NCTM principals and standards
3. Balanced/comprehensive approach to instruction
4. Inquiry based lessons
5. Multiple mathematical representations
6. Assessment-driven instruction (performance, formative, summative)
7. Differentiation
8. Teaching/Learning Cycle (assessment, evaluation, planning, teaching)
9. Coaching and collaboration
10. Gradual release of responsibility (To, With, By)
11. Developmentally Appropriate Practices
12. Choice Theory
13. Anti bias Multicultural Education
14. Reading/Writing Process
15. Knowledge of current research in effective mathematics instruction
16. Professional Learning Communities
Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is on a conditional basis pending completion of a state and national background check.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
