The contract Architect position will work within the TESF (Facilities Engineering) Group in the Transmission Services (T) business line. Facilities Engineering has both Architects and Mechanical engineers who are responsible for the coordination and design oversight of HVAC, plumbing and electrical building systems on all Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) facilities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Northern California. TESF architects are responsible for design and oversight of the construction/remodel/replacement of HVAC, plumbing and architectural components on all BPA facilities inside and outside of security fences; substations Control Houses, Relay Houses, remote Radio Buildings, Maintenance Headquarters, Control Centers and miscellaneous support buildings. This position is on-site in the Construction Services Building at the Ross Complex in Vancouver, WA.
This position is not open to Foreign National candidates.
Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist project manager in organizing, planning, coordinating and administrating all project activities including but not limited to:
o Project Estimating
o Budgeting and tracking projects
o Project Scheduling utilizing MS Project Manager
o Construction administration
o Creation and coordination of Construction Document packages
Prepare design sketches and finished working drawings for contract construction purposes. This encompasses not only new construction but alterations to existing facilities. Design work includes:
o Assessment Phase
o Schematic Design Phase
o Design Development and Construction Document packages (CDs)
Submittal Review & Processing
o Project Close-Out Phase
o Code Review
Review working drawings at various stages of completion for adherence and compliance with design scope, conceptual design sketches and established policies.
o Specification Writing
Coordinate with construction and procurement to interpret drawings, specification, and design intent, including field inspection trips.
Escort A&E firms and outside construction contractors for preparing assessments and surveys and conducting bid tours.
Position Requirements:
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in architecture is required
3-5 years of architect experience is required
1 year experience with Document Management Software is required
1 year experience with Project Management Software is required
1 year experience with Graphics or photo imaging software is required
Licensed Architect is highly preferred
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) knowledge is desirable
Micro Station knowledge is desirable
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; (MS Office 2010 proficiency required)

Balanced design and technical ability
Knowledge and experience in the design, construction administration and inspection of various commercial roofing systems.
Additional Requirements:
Travel to field for building surveys, escorting contractors, inspecting projects or attending meetings - up to 20% of time is anticipated
Up to 5% overtime is anticipated
This position may be eligible for situational offsite work, subject to the completion of a Supplemental Labor Offsite Work Memorandum of Understanding.
Valid State Drivers License
Position requires work in and around energized facilities; must acquire and retain the appropriate level BPA Access Permit (see Page 3)
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required for all field travel:
White Hard Hat
ASTM F2413-11, Class 75 EH rated footwear with over the ankle lace up and rigid sole and heel.
1st Aid/AED/CPR certificationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
