A successful candidate in this position will serve as an electrical engineer performing assignments of limited scope and difficulty which are screened to eliminate difficult or unusual problems.

As an Electrical Engineer in Transmission System Technical Operations, you will:
Participate in providing products, studies, and specialized technical support and analyses directed toward the real time dispatch of the transmission system with regards to Automatic Generation Control (AGC), Balancing Authority (BA), and Variable Energy Resources (VER) systems and processes.
Participate in digitally simulating the regional power system with respect to AGC, BA and VER to determine acceptable reserves and operating procedures under various power system conditions.
Participate in the development, review, modification of power system transmission policy and protocols concerning the procurement, deployment and monitoring of reserves.
Archive and analyze historic information for statistical or other analyses of the power system.
Define the need for and order the purchase of reserves required for the reliable operation of the AGC, BA and VER systems and processes.

Consecutive Accelerated Training and Promotion Position. Candidates selected under this announcement will be placed in The BPA Consecutive Accelerated Training and Promotion Plan (CATPP), which is an accelerated training program designed to accelerate his/her ability to assume higher-level duties and responsibilities by allowing training to be substituted for experience required in the position. The candidate is then eligible for a maximum of two (2) consecutive promotions up to the GS-12 grade-level, based on training completed as part of the program. If selected for this position: you will be required to sign a memorandum of agreement before entry into the position as a condition of appointment . Promotions are not guaranteed and will depend on: successful completion of the 6-month training plan; acceptable performance in the position; as well as the availability of higher-level work.
Example of Plan Application : A candidate enters the program at the GS-07 grade level with promotion potential to the GS-13 grade level. The candidate is eligible for promotion to the GS-09 grade level after a six-month period provided all training requirements are met and performance is at an acceptable level. Therefore, if the candidate successfully completes each phase of training, he/she may advance from GS-07 to GS-09 in 6 months, and then to GS-11 in 6 more months, and then in 12 additional months to GS-12, rather than the standard 36 months it would take to reach GS-12 without the benefit of the accelerated training program.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Degree in professional engineering from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
OR
Degree in professional engineering, which includes course work differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (1) statics, dynamics; (2) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (3) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (4) thermodynamics; (5) electrical fields and circuits; (6) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (7) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
OR
A combination of education and experience - college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following (see U.S. Office of Personnel Management qualifications standards operating manual for specifics): (1) professional registration; (2) written test (EIT); (3) specified academic courses; (4) related curriculum.
GS-07: Applicants must meet the basic requirements described above AND have at least one year of specialized experience (as defined below), equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service; or one year of graduate level education directly related to the work of this position or meet the requirements under the superior academic achievement provision; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.
GS-09: Applicants must meet the basic requirements described above AND have at least one year of specialized experience as defined below, equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service; or a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., related to the work of this position; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, a qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
GS-07: Experience applying the theories, principles, and concepts of power systems engineering.
GS-09: Experience with analyzing electrical engineering studies and tests for electrical power systems.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
