Key Responsibilities :
This full time contract Network Administrator 1 position supports Network Services (JNN) organization by networking connectivity in an Internet/intranet environment. Network Administrator will ensure a high performing infrastructure on various network components such as cable plants, patch panels, routers, and switches by installing, configuring and troubleshooting using provided tools. This position is based at Ross Complex in Vancouver, Washington.
This position is not open to Foreign National candidates.
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Configure and maintain network patch panels and perform cable management.
Assist in solving PC and network connectivity problems
Test cables, monitor network health (frame errors, collisions) identify setting problems with speed, duplex, protocol mismatches
Use the graphical or command line management interface to modify configurations such as IP routes and VLANs. In addition, track device performance, errors and traffic
Assist in creation and maintenance of network maps and data spreadsheets using Visio and Excel
Communicate with clients and team concerning solutions pertaining to network performance and/or, maintenance, and facilitating problem resolution
Serve as network administrator including responsibility for installing, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting LAN and WAN components such as routers, hubs, switches, and monitors
Create and troubleshoot network maps, and monitor network problems concerning connectivity failures with the HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SSL, ICMP, VOIP and other protocols
Identify the need to upgrade or enhance network component capabilities in response to network problems and deficiencies; e.g., degradation of service
Position Requirements:
Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in Network Administration/Computer/Information Technology or a closely-related field is preferred, and can substitute for 4 years of the required experience.
This is a Level 1 positon: 4 years of related Network Administration experience is required ( - 4 years with Bachelors degree, as specified above).

years experience in IP networks supporting network administration tasks such as moves, adds, changes, on Network hardware/software and cable infrastructures in a network with >2500 endpoints is required. (Please Note: 4 years total is required without an applicable Bachelors degree, as specified above)
Knowledge of Cisco products and IOS is required.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in Routing and Switching or equivalent (see certification equivalency matrix immediately below Positon Requirements section) is required. CCNP or CCIE are acceptable as well.
Knowledge of Unix operating systems with at least 6 months experience is desirable.
Knowledge and experience supporting additional network protocols BGP, OSPF etc. is desirable.
NIST and FIPS experience in applying security controls is desirable.

CCIE has no required pre-requisites, therefore experience substitution is based on the path applicants took to obtain Expert Certification(s);
If applicant achieved certification in any of the previously-listed subject areas (Professional, Associate, and/or Entry-level) prior to pursuing either expert certification, 6 months of experience will be added for either expert certification (CCIE).
If knowledge in these expert-level subject areas was obtained outside of any of the previously-listed certifications and done on own accord, 18 months experience will be added for either certification.
Additional Requirements:
Travel is expected (35%) to field locations when network support is needed for moves and installs throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Approximately 15% overtime is anticipated
Valid Drivers License required
Must be physically able to lift 40 lbs. and do network cable pulling in restricted situations.
Ability to climb a ladder to diagnose, install and repair in ceiling end points (see Ladder Usage requirements on following page).
Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions. Location for on-call and backup support may be at facilities or off-site. Required to carry a supplied cell phone/pager and work non-core hours when requested.
All information associated with work performed offsite must be maintained in the network environment. No information will be allowed to be transmitted, stored, and created, etc., on the contract workers personal devices. Contract personnel must follow all and government-wide security, asset management, and cyber security policies and procedures.
Off site work, other than the required/assigned on call duties, requires completion of a Supplemental Labor Offsite Work Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Offsite work must be approved by the manager prior to the work being performed.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
